Wendy is the owner of Summerland Physiotherapy and Sports Care. She is originally from Sherwood Park, Alberta and she graduated with distinction from the University of Alberta in 1997. She has been working in Summerland since 2000. She completed the certification program through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute in 2003. She has a special interest in gait analysis and custom orthotic prescription using the Footmaxx System. She has also completed training in Vestibular Rehabilitation for treatment of vertigo at the Royal Columbian Hospital in Vancouver. Wendy has attained her Level III distinction in post-graduate manual therapy through the Orthopedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. She is currently on the medical team for the South Okanagan Flames Junior Lacrosse team and Summerland Sting Junior Hockey Team. She has worked with numerous sports teams including the Canadian Freestyle Ski Team, the South Okanagan Junior Lacrosse Team, the UBCO Volleyball Teams, and the Summerland Steam Junior Hockey Team. She is an avid runner and has completed several marathons, half-marathons, 10km and 5km races. She also enjoys kayaking, gardening, traveling and reading in her spare time.

Scott Downey Scott Downey B.Sc.P.T, M.C.P.A. Registered Physiotherapist

Scott grew up in Indiana, graduating from Indiana University Physical Therapy School in 1998. Following graduation he practiced in Eastern Washington before moving to Penticton in 2001. He has practiced in acute care, outpatient orthopedics and home care. Scott completed his certification for dry needling as well as certification as a Clinical Exercise Specialist with the American College of Sports Medicine. In addition to his practice at Summerland Physiotherapy Scott also works in the Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programs in Penticton and post Cardiac and Pulmonary rehabilitation maintenance programs with his partners in Active Living Services. Scott enjoys outdoor activities including skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and kayaking.

Pieter Rijke Pieter Rijke R.P.T., L.Ac.
Registered Physiotherapist * Acupuncturist

Pieter has been a physiotherapist since 1979 and has specialized in acupuncture since 1983. He practices Traditional Chinese Medicine including IMS for pain reduction, called ah-shi acupuncture in Chinese Medicine. He practiced physiotherapy and acupuncture first in the Netherlands, where he was born and raised and lived for almost 50 years. Later he lived and worked in Germany. He also has a Dutch law degree. He and his family immigrated to Canada in 1999 and has been practicing in the BC Interior and since 2002 in the Okanagan. He owned and operated the Okanagan Acupuncture Centre in Kelowna between 2002 and 2008. Since 2009 he has been practicing acupuncture on cruise ships all over the world. He now lives in West Kelowna and joined the team at Summerland Physiotherapy in 2012.

Blake Chalmers Blake Chalmers, B.Sc., M.P.T., B.D.N., M.C.P.A
Registered Physiotherapist

Blake is a dedicated student of lifelong learning and desires to give the most up-to-date treatments available to his patients. Blake has completed his level 2 with the Orthopaedic Division and looks forward to continuing his education in manual therapy and to eventually attain his diploma in Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy. Blake has also attained his certificate in Biomedical Dry Needling. Blake strives to provide the best possible care to his patients through effective communication, gentle manual therapy, dry needling and precise exercise programs tailored for the individual.

Allison Anderson Allison Anderson
Registered Massage Therapist

Allison was born and raised in Kamloops until high school where Vernon became her family home. After graduation, she continued her education and achieved her Associated Arts Degree while pursuing a career in law enforcement. A severe injury prevented the completion of her RCMP training program, and through her rehabilitation, Allison learned the importance of healing through massage therapy. This inspired her to pursue a new career choice and has successfully completed the Registered Massage Therapy program. She has recently married and will be making their home in the South Okanagan. Her hobbies include hiking, reading and spending time with her golden lab puppy.

Lisa Hallquist Lisa Hallquist B.C.R.P.A.
Cerified Pilates Instructor and Personal Trainer

Lisa was born and raised in Summerland. She has been working at the clinic since 2002. She has a Diploma in Recreation Management from TRU (formerlyCariboo University College) and she is BCRPA Certified as a Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer. She received her Pilates Certification through the Physical Mind Institute in Vancouver in 2002. She incorporates use of the on-site reformer as well as springboard resistance into her Pilates Programs. Lisa received her Total Gym GRAVITY Instructor Certification in 2012 from Master Trainer Helen Vanderburg. She has since added 5 GRAVITY Machines and 5 spin bikes to her list of Studio Equipment. In her spare time, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family, as well as paper crafting.

Recently AB:Solution Pilates and Fitness Training was voted “Best Yoga/Pilates Studio in the South Okanagan 2012” by the readers of Okanagan Life Magazine.

Previously Lisa has been voted "BEST PILATES INSTRUCTOR 2006" by the readers of Okanagan Life magazine.

Sharrie Sharrie Stahl
Office Administrator

After raising three children in Vernon, Sharrie and her husband are now grateful to call Summerland home. Sharrie previously had a career in the financial field and more recently has worked as a Medical Office Assistant for a cardiologist. She enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, and the outdoors.

Administrative Assistant

Christina and her husband Doug hail from Northern British Columbia. Originally trained in Forestry, Christina worked for Canada Post while raising three active boys. These days they enjoy discovering all the South Okanagan has to offer especially hiking and gardening.

Marjorie Boulter Marjorie Boulter
Administrative Assistant

After spending many years in Alberta and the lower mainland of BC, as a bookkeeper and office administrator, Marjorie just recently relocated to Summerland and is enjoying the small town atmosphere and the friendliness of the residents. She enjoys spending time with family and friends and taking long walks on the many trails and taking advantage of the closeness of the lake and local wineries. She looks forward to many years of peace and happiness in the area.
